Grant white, who was also a professor at berkeley purchased the car from this individual here in the united states. Since the car was not meant for export it has italian gauges. I purchased the car from grant in october of 1991. Grant had stored the car for an extended period of time but we started it up and drove it home. The title of the car states that it is a 1960. From my research, based on the chassis number, it looks like it is a 1964. Grant was well known here in the valley as an alfa aficionado, having owned many alfas, including a pre-war alfa, as well as an early bugatti and lancias. Because of that i never questioned him, and don’t have the opportunity to question him now since he has passed away. He may have registered the car as a 1960 because of the engine number. My research shows that the engine that was in the car when i purchased it was manufactured in 1960. He also gave me another alfa engine that, based on the number, came from a 1957 giulietta spider. The numbering system that alfa used was not entirely accurate but i don’t think it could be that far off. This is not an rare car but i think they made less than 2000 of the giulietta sprint 1300’s. If i remember right this has a 5 speed transmission but i’m not sure if they came from the factory that way. I purchased the car in 1991 and immediately stripped it down to start the restoration. I had much of the chrome pieces rechromed and purchased other new parts that were available, including a complete carpet kit from centerline. The car was relatively complete when i stripped it down but it was missing the chrome wind spilt on the hood. I thought i might like to race the car and so i purchased two corbeau racing seats as well as some suspension pieces. I got the car back from the paint and body guys and never really touched it since. It’s been stored in a warehouse in roy, utah for about 20 years. 1964 alfa romeo giulietta sprint 1300 chassis number ar385523 two engines: ar1315. 41292 ar00102. 18539 car is disassembled with many new parts.
